Some may not know that I am a published poet. I am occasionally inspired to write verse. Here is a poem from today:
THE PEARL
Well he thinks he’s found him a pearl of great price, and I guess that beauty’s in his eye, forgetting a pearl is an oyster’s irritation.
She’s pretty, she sings in the light, shiny for all men to see, but if you look real close she’s just a piece of shell.
To hear him tell the tale – he plucked her from the heart of the ocean, but some remember the day, when he found her on the beach, dug from another mans foot.
Her edges have been worn with time – and his touch, her shine isn’t what it once was, but she still glimmers in his eye and he still calls her his pearl… but her heart is still a grain of sand.
